I n 2013, Ton Daniels decided after working as a contractor for almost 40 years that it was time to make his big dream a reality. While fishing on the Deurne Canal, he laid the foundation for what is today the Peelvisser Meijel. Ton can be found fishing on the canal all his life and he is also characterized as a fanatical hunter.
A real outdoorsman with a passion for nature. It is therefore not surprising that his dream is completely in line with his great hobby: to realize a trout pond in the middle of the nature of Meijel.
Looking for a suitable location
Ton has several locations for the ponds in mind. But when he cycles home after a day of fishing on the Noordervaart, he discovers a large corn field in the armpit of the canal of Deurne and the Noordervaart. From then on there is no doubt, this is the perfect location for his dream!
In 2014, he and his wife Sonja managed to get the permits after a long time and they started digging. Initially, the plan is to realize 4 trout ponds. However, the ground is too wet and too low, so the whole has to be raised. This creates a natural pond and an extra place for fishing. This 5 th pond also counts as a piece of nature compensation.
Next to the trout ponds, a small building will be built entirely by yourself on the basis of natural materials and a terrace will be placed consisting of 4 tables. Ton takes care of the trout fishing arrangement and Sonja provides a drink with goodies on the terrace with her hospitality. The adventure of the Peelvisser is about to begin!
The trout ponds in combination with the terrace and the natural surroundings soon prove to be a hit. Many day tourists, holidaymakers and fellow villagers know how to find their way to the Peelvisser. If canoe rental is also added in 2018, the company will grow so fast that expansion in staff and facilities will be necessary.

This addition will be completed in June 2020. The family itself has built a new catering building with a completely natural character. Many tree trunks have been processed on location to achieve this end result. From then on, the former building will be used as storage for fishing rods, fishing bait and canoe attributes
Grown into a family business
Over the years, the children of Sonja and Ton have gained so much feeling for the work at De Peelvisser that it was decided to continue as a family business. Son Jorrit and daughter-in-law Gaby run the catering section, Sonja and Sandor are the waiters and are also always up for a chat with guests. Of course Ton still arranges the rental, only now together with family friend Lester. They also ensure that the site looks beautiful. The Corona period temporarily throws a spanner in the works, but the Peelvisser offers many opportunities to still have great moments together.
After almost 10 wonderful years at the Peelvisser, Ton and Sonja decide in consultation with the children that it is time to take a step back. As the company is becoming more and more famous, it turns out to be difficult to cut down. That is why they chose to sell the Peelvisser in 2022. For Arjuna and Denise from Restaurant Nakal, De Peelvisser has been their favorite place to refuel for years and they have great memories there. Under the name Peelpavilion "Our Stek" on the fish pond, they will give Ton and Sonja's dream a beautiful follow-up.
